Mrs. Iola Brooks Thompson, 89, was called to her heavenly home on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 in the E.T. York Haven Hospice Care Center, Gainesville, FL, with her daughter, Linda Owens and friend, Ruby Baker at her bedside.Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 8, at Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, Monticello, FL, with her pastor, the Reverend J. B. Duval, officiating. Burial will follow at Pallbearers Cemetery, Monticello. Viewing visitation is Friday 3-4:30 p.m. at TILLMAN OF MONTICELLO 850-997-5553, with the family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Memorial.A native of Jefferson County, she had spent the past three years in Gainesville under the loving care of her daughter. She was a retired self-employed cosmetologist and a deaconess at Memorial. Treasuring her love and precious memories are: her loving, devoted daughter, Linda Jenkins Owens, Gainesville; her cherished granddaughter, Tiffany Yola Owens, Atlanta; two nieces, one special grand-nephew; and a host of grand-nephews and nieces, loving cousins and sorrowing friends.
