Lillian "Lynn" Johnston

Lillian "Lynn" Johnston died peacefully in her home on Tuesday, February 25, with family by her side. Born April 1922 in Brooklyn NY, she grew up in Jamaica and worked in Manhattan after high school. In 1950 she married Joe Johnston. Together they raised six children in the Catholic faith on Long Island. In 1971, they moved the family to Naples FL and moved to Tallahassee in 1979.
After her husband's death in 2004, Lynn continued to live independently in her own home.
In addition to dedicating her life to her large family, Lynn was a talented artist and lover of music, tennis, and good food. After three of her sons opened The Melting Pot in Tallahassee, she became affectionately known to many as "Momma Fondue." By her example, she taught her family to live every moment of every day with love and laughter.

Lynn is survived by her six children and their spouses, Larry (Irene), Peter (Joanne), and Mary Bascom (Brett) of Tallahassee, Mark (Arlene) and Bob (Katina) of Tampa, and Mike (Carol) of Marco Island, 17 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren (one great grandchild predeceased her), and a sister, Dorothy Riegel of Gilbert, Arizona.

Lynn was a life-long faithful Catholic. A memorial mass will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Tallahassee at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 1. In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest a donation in Lynn's name to the PCD Foundation (
