Verma Parker Delaney
Verma Parker Delaney, age 91, of Chattahoochee, FL, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Consulate Health Care in Tallahassee, FL. She was born February 22, 1923 to Marcellous Harvey Parker and Gladys Belva Reese Parker. She was our wonderful mother, friend, mentor, and refuge in times of hurt. Our lives were made richer and more loved than any daughters, family, and friends could ever know. She loved and was loved by all who knew her.
Verma was a nurse by occupation worked 25 years at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Fidelity Rebekah Lodge #34 of Tallahassee, FL; the Sanford Ladies Auxiliary Patriarch Militant #5, of Deland, FL; and the Lake Ladies Encampment Auxiliary #17, of Leesburg, FL. She was elected President of the Department Association of the Ladies Auxiliary Patriarch Militant of Florida in 1986, and President of the Rebekah Assembly of Florida in 1995.
She was predeceased by her parents and three brothers. Verma is survived by five daughters, Belva Gurr, Jean Lacy, Jo Turnage (David), Janegale Boyd (Hines), and Fran Youmans (Richard); ten grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by special nieces, Kit Parker and Karen Vaughn (Donnie); and special nephews, Ken Parker, Richard Parker (Shelly); a special cousin and friend, Jean Williams; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
