Timothy Joseph Francis Warfel
Timothy Joseph Francis Warfel, 60, of Tallahassee died Sunday April 6, 2014, at his home.

Tim was born September 22, 1953 in Birmingham, Alabama.
He was the son of Evelyn Joyce Willey Warfel and the late Robert James Warfel. He grew up in Southern California where he attended Holy Name of Mary Elementary School and began the lifelong practice of attending daily mass. Tim graduated from Damien High School where he was a national champion debater. In 1974 he graduated with honors from Emory University, Phi Beta Kappa, where he met his beloved wife Merry Lynne Moss.
He married his best friend on August 18, 1974, at Poplar Arbor Church in Doerun, Georgia. He graduated from Harvard Law School in 1977 and later received his Master's in Taxation from NYU in 1983. Tim first practiced law in Moultrie, Georgia where he was a law partner with United States Senator C. Saxby Chambliss.
In 1983, he moved to Tallahassee, Florida where he joined the law firm of Messer, Rhodes, and Vickers. Over the next 30 years, he developed a highly respected practice specializing in Wills, Trusts, and Probate. In January 2014, he joined the law firm Messer Caparello, P.A.
Tim served his community in many ways.
He served on the board of directors for the Pregnancy Help & Information Center, Trinity Catholic School, John Paul II Catholic High School, Casa Calderon, TMH Foundation and was on the Professional Advisory Council for the FSU Foundation. He was a dedicated servant and faithful member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church and proudly served its members in many ways.
He was a lector, special minister, teacher and board member. Tim was a selfless man that was always giving and never left anyone behind.
He was an avid reader, whose library was filled with books about the Civil War, Catholic Church, and the Classics. He loved watching Chicago Cubs Baseball and FSU sports.
He was an endurance athlete that completed over 100 races including the Los Angeles Marathon, Blue Ridge Adventure Race, and the 140.6 mile Ironman Florida. He participated in these races, not to win, but to spend time with his friends, The Early Girlz.
Tim is survived by his mother Evelyn Joyce Willey Warfel of California; wife Merry Lynne; daughter Jennifer Warfel Burton and husband Jason of Decatur, Georgia; son Christopher John Warfel.
Extended family survivors include brothers Mark Jerome Warfel and Michael John Warfel of California; the Robert C. "Moose" Moss family of Doerun, Georgia; aunt, Margaret Green; multiple cousins, especially Debbie, Edward, Jan, Pam and Sandy; and a myriad of nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 10th at Culley's MeadowWood Riggins Road Chapel from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, April 11th at Good Shepherd Catholic Church at 11:00am. Interment will take place at Poplar Abor Church Cemetery in Doerun, Georgia.
