Danny Joel Blocker, 67, retired, died April 11, 2014 in Blountstown, Florida.
Danny was born July 18, 1946 in Decatur County. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.Danny was honorably discharged with the National Defense Service Metal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Metal and Good Conduct Medal.
He had a long career as an Automotive Mechanic with Supervalu Distribution Center formally Higdon Grocery Company.
Danny is preceded in death by his father and mother Cleveland and Hortense Blocker of Bainbridge, Ga. Danny is survived by his wife, Carol Blocker of 19 years, four sisters, Lois Gainey, Marilyn Blocker, Jo Pitman and Joan Chase all of Bainbridge, Ga; two brothers, Kenneth Blocker of Bainbridge, Ga and Jeffrey Blocker of Pine Level, Al; three Step Children, Cindy (Jesse) Welch of Freeport, Fl, John Horton of Wewahitchka, Fl and Teresa (Mitch) Curtis of Tallahassee, Fl; three grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.The family would like to thank the staff and care nurses of the River Valley Rehabilitation Center in Blountstown, Florida. We appreciate the care you gave Danny and the support you gave to the family.
Danny loved to hunt, fish and eat. You could always tell when Danny enjoyed a meal he would start sweating and repeatedly say "Darn this is good."
Visitation will be Sunday April 13, 2014 from 4 P.M. until 6 P.M. at the Wesleyan Community Center, Hosford, Florida. Graveside Service will be Monday April 14, 2014, 11 A.M. at Hillcrest Cemetery, Quincy, Florida.
Flowers are welcomed or in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Honor of Danny to River Valley Rehabilitation Center, 17884 NE Crozier Street, Blountstown, Florida 32424.
