Lawrence "Larry" Jordan
Lawrence "Larry" Jordan, age 80, died July 17, 2014.
He was also known fondly to friends and family as "Spanky". Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Walla Jordan; brothers, Francis, Bryant, Edward, Jack, Hayward; sisters, Mary Alice Senterfit and Sylvia Ann Jordan. He is survived by his wife, Mary Wilson Jordan. He was a devoted husband, Father and Grandfather and a kind and gentle man. Larry enjoyed serving and helping others.
He was born in Jefferson County and resided in Tallahassee since 1954. He was a graduate of Jefferson High School in Monticello and attended Florida State University. Larry served in the United States Army and was retired from the Florida Department of Community Affairs. He was a member of Wildwood Church.
He is also survived by his loving daughter, Mary Beth Vickers and husband Jeff Vickers; precious granddaughters, Jordan and Morgan Vickers who were the light of his life, all of Tallahassee; brother, Jim Jordan and wife, Barbara of Tallahassee; three sisters, Juanita Metcalf of Tallahassee, Betty Goodman and husband Eugene of Whigham, Georgia, Joyce Russell of Atlanta, Georgia; and many special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Wildwood Presbyterian Church from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd. Tallahassee, Florida 32308.
