Nathaniel Harold Moore
Nathaniel "Nat" Moore, age 84, died July 23, 2014 at home, due to unexpected complications of surgical anesthesia and Alzheimer's disease. It is our family's hope that other families will benefit from our loss and more carefully discuss any surgeries prior to choosing them for later stage Alzheimer's patients.
Nat was best known for his kindness, playful sense of humor and generous love of family and friends. He is survived by Mary Kathleen "Katie" Moore, his wife of 54 years, their only child, Daniel Moore, his most favorite grand-daughter, Kate Moore and trusted caregiver, Sammie Pidgeon.
Originally from New England, Nat served in the US Navy during the Korean War, and then relocated to central Florida.Nat moved to Titusville, FL in 1959 where he met and married Katie Moore, and quickly began his small family. Nat spent most of his professional life as a Linotype Operator, mastering a now antiquated printing machine that was used for newspapers and high quality printing products.
This career led his family to Gainesville, FL where he later retired.Despite Nat's loss of memory, his last few years were very happy ones, and spent much of his time as one of the Tallahassee Senior Center's favorite pool players. Nat was not a religious person, but instead built his life on a strong work ethic, compassion for others and a true enjoyment of this world. No formal services will be held, but our family would welcome friends and loved ones at Nat and Katie's home 10am to 2pm on Saturday, August 9th, 2014. Please call the family for location. Susie Mozolic of Bevis Funeral Home is assisting the family with their arrangements. (850-385-2193, www.bevisfh.com)
