Melvin G. (Mel) Huls

Melvin G. (Mel) Huls of Monticello, Fl. passed away at the Margaret Dozier Hospice House on Sunday, August 17th, at the age of 86. Mel is survived by his wife of over 66 years, Erma, who was by his side at his death as she was throughout his life. He is also survived by two daughters Sandra (Guy) Hood and Pat (John) Marchman, all of Monticello.
He loved his two grandchildren, Becky Howell of Gulf Breeze, Fl. And Brian (Shannon) Mitchell of Somonauk, Il., more than life and his great-grandchildren Jessica, Corey, Zoe, Andrew and Haylee. He leaves one sister, Mildred Eiskamp of Paxton, Il., and was preceded in death by his parents, George and Margaret Huls, two brothers, Marvin and Irvin and two sisters Norma Woodside and Carolee Ellefritz.
Mel was a man who never knew a stranger, made sales his career, loved all sports especially his St. Louis Cardinals Baseball team and leaves behind many friends who will miss his quick comments and smile. He loved his Church, First United Methodist Church of Monticello, and his Church family. A memorial service to honor and celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, August 23rd at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 325 W. Walnut St., Monticello, Fl. 32344.
Family will receive friends at a reception following the service in the Family Ministry Center.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to First United Methodist Church in Monticello or Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, Fl. 32308.
