1950 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
Don Wayne Davis

Don Wayne Davis Sr., 64, died Thursday, August 21, 2014. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. EST on Monday, August 25 at Bevis Funeral Home, Harvey-Young Chapel in Crawfordville, FL. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 26 at West Sopchoppy Cemetery in Sopchoppy, FL.

Don was a Vietnam Veteran of the United States Army. He later retired from Lycoming Engines after an impressive career as an Aircraft Mechanic. He loved being surrounded by nature and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He especially enjoyed taking his children and grandchildren along for a day of fishing out at Red Lake. Don was a gifted mechanic and enjoyed electronics and technology as well.

Don's quick wit and humor always kept family and friends on the edge of their seats, waiting for the next laugh. It has been said that if you got him on the right day, he would even join you for a friendly political debate. He was a big personality but always made everyone feel welcome and at home. His loved ones will miss him dearly, as he was one of a kind. Don is survived by his daughter, Sheila Bass (Rodney Lollie); sisters, Hazel Davis and Jean Yale; brothers, Broward (Bernie) Davis, Larry (Dorothy) Davis, Bruce (Billie) Davis and Ricky (Linda) Davis; sister-in-law Carrie Davis; grandchildren, Jesse Bass, USMC LCPL Matthew (Alyssa) Kerce, Seth Wallace, M. Tyler Wallace and Madison Lollie; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by sons, M. Jason Davis and Don W. Davis, Jr.; parents, Irene and Emmanuel Davis; brothers, Terry Davis and Howard Davis; and sister, Helen Simmons.

In honor of Don, the family asks that all donations be made to the Fisher House Foundation of Gainesville, 111 Rockville Pike, Suite 420, Rockville, MD 20850.

Tholley Taylor and Amber Miller of Bevis Funeral Home, Harvey-Young Chapel are assisting the family with arrangements ( or 850-926-3333).
