Kenneth Jessup Obituary

Kenneth "Kenny" J. Jessup

A golden heart stopped beating, your hard working hands put to rest; God broke our hearts to prove he only takes the best when Kenneth "Kenney" J. Jessup, 52, passed away in Tallahassee, on Sunday, July 24, 2011, after a long illness.

A long time resident of Tallahassee and graduate of Leon High School, he was born February 13, 1959, in Tallahassee, to Ben Jessup, Sr. and Laura Crandall Jessup. He was a transmission mechanic for many years, and never met a stranger.

Kenny loved life. By the grace of God and the love of his mother and father, it carried him over the hard hurdles of life and he will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him, including his parents; son, Justin Jessup; grandson, Blake Jessup; brothers, Ben Jessup, Jr., Dennis "Jr." Jessup (Sherri), Robert "Bobby" Jessup (Shirley); sisters, Cathy Harrelson (Glen), Ginger Silva (Frank); many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other family and friends that loved him dearly. He is also survived by the love of his life, Tammy.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Virginia Crandall, Earl Jessup and Ruby Shealey; and a beloved niece, Kathryn Jessup Weathering.

The funeral is 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at Abbey Funeral Home, with interment following at Tallahassee Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 AM Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, Kenny's wishes would be a contribution to the Lighthouse Children's Home. Online condolences may be made at www.abbeyfh.com.

Ben & Laura,
I am so sorry to hear about Kenny. He had a heart of gold and always a smile on his face. I will never forget him picking up JR & I from the 8th grade "prom" in his blue camaro. He was the coolest big brother ever! I know JR will miss him so so much. My thoughts & prayers are with you both. I hope the memories will comfort you & keep your heart full always. He will be missed forever. Bless you both. As one of God's angels, peace be with you, Kenny.

It is true that Kenny never met a stranger, he was a truly kind and giving person. I am so thankful that he had almost 4 years to get to know his grandson, Blake. Though we here will miss him, heaven is a better place now that Kenny is there. Blessed are those that mourn, for they will be comforted. Matthew 5:4
