Curtis M. Beckwith, Sr.

Curtis McArthur Beckwith, Sr., 72, of Tallahassee passed in Gainesville, FL on September 19, 2011. Born in Columbus, AL, Mr. Beckwith grew up in Bristol, FL and graduated from Bethune High School in 1958. He served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper. He graduated from Lively Vocational Technical Institute's Electronics Program and began his employment at Florida State University and moved on to Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee, FL. He later worked at Thomason Research Company and Municipal Code where he worked faithfully for 35 years.
After retiring from Municipal Code, he became a security guard for Golden Eagle Security.
Services are 12 noon Thursday, Sept. 29, at Flipper Chapel A.M.E. Church, Tallahassee. Burial with military honors will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Viewing-visitation is 3-8 p.m. today at TILLMAN OF TALLAHASSEE 850-942-1950.

Cherishing his love and memory are: his loving wife of 49 years, Sylvia Brown Beckwith; devoted daughter, Gwendolyn Renee Beckwith; doting son, Curtis McArthur Beckwith, Jr.; two grandchildren, Derrick Blanton, Jr. and Sharai Beckwith, all of Tallahassee; sister, Ann (Lloyd) Bonds; brother, Roosevelt (Ethel) Beckwith; uncles, Elder J.B. Beckwith and George Dixon; aunt, Gladys Grice; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
