Lamonta O. Powell

Lamonta On'Shay Powell, 42, of Tallahassee passed unexpectedly at home on Sunday, October 28, 2012. A Leon County Sheriff's deputy for 20 years, Officer Powell was assigned to the Leon County Jail. He was a Gadsden County native and graduate of Shanks High School where he played football. Funeral services are 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Hebron A.M.E.
Church, Quincy, with burial at the Powell Family Cemetery. Viewing-visitation is 3-7 p.m. Friday at TILLMAN OF TALLAHASSEE 850-942-1950.
Survivors include: his daughters, Jasmine L. and Jorie N. Powell; mother, Mildred Carpenter Moore; father, Charles (Pauline) Powell, aunts and uncles who were like his siblings, Mary L. (Freddie) Harvey, Alice (Glenn) Young, Leonard (Shirley) Carpenter, Elizabeth (Lucien) Knight, Geraldine (Lucious) Thompson, Daisy (Bobby) Bush, Cecil (Jacqueline) Carpenter, Roger (Faythia) Carpenter and Shateesha Walker; special cousins, Aldric and Auja Bush and Tyrone Scott, special friends, Robert Collins, Frederick Williams, Pastor Richard Ash and Leith Kenon; and numerous other relatives and friends, including his colleagues at the Leon County Sheriff's Office.
