Frank Travis Hornsby, 65, a retired educator of 30 years departed this life unexpectedly on Thur. Nov. 1 in Tallahassee. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Sat. Nov. 10 at Bethlehem Temple Church of God In Christ in Bellwood, Alabama. Burial will follow at Mt. Moriah cemetery in Bellwood. Travis was born in Bellwood, Alabama in 1947 to the late Elnor Sconyers Hornsby and the late James Hornsby.One of nine children, Travis was the "Big Brother", the "Uncle" and the "person" who whipped everyone into shape. Travis firmly believed that all children deserved a good education. He obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree from Alabama A&M University, his Masters Degree from Florida A&M University and completed hours toward his doctorate from Alabama State University.Even in retirement, Travis continued to contribute to the community through the education of young people. On his passing, Travis leaves to cherish his memory:brother: Shelly Hornsby of Bellwood, Alabama; sisters: Evelyn Hornsby of Bellwood, Alabama, Carolyn Holloway of Tallahassee, Florida, Phelicia Stiell of Tallahassee, Florida, Patricia Williams (Johnathan) of Birmingham, Alabama, and Rusheda Adeshina (Babatunde) of Pooler, Georgia; aunts: Annie Mae Broxton of Chicago, Illinois, Mary Christine Banks of Newark, New Jersey, and Vedora Sconyers of Chicago, Illinois; & a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.He was preceded in death by two brothers: James Edward Hornsby and Rudolph Hornsby; sister:Janice Hornsby
