Joanne Putnam died Thursday, March 28, 2013, in Tallahassee, after a brief illness. She will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, and generosity with her time and talents.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 4th, from 4:30-6:30 PM at Abbey Funeral Home, 4037 North Monroe Street, Tallahassee. A Rosary will take place on Thursday during the visitation at 6:00PM. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated for her on Friday, April 5, at 11 AM at St. Louis Catholic Church, 3640 Fred George Road, Tallahassee.Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Petersburg, FL at a later date.
A daughter of the late Donald and Catherine Graffam Pangle, she was born October 24, 1951 in Brockton, MA. The family moved to St. Petersburg, FL in 1954 where Joanne attended St. Jude Catholic School and Notre Dame Academy. After studying at Dominican College in New Orleans, she earned a B.S. in Psychology at the University of South Florida and later an M.S. in Counseling at the University of Memphis.She was employed by the State of Florida for over 35 years.
A member of the St. Louis parish from its earliest days, Joanne served as Eucharistic minister and volunteer for the homeless, shut-ins, and the sick. She warmly welcomed friends and loved ones into her home. An excellent baker, she delighted co-workers and friends with birthday cakes and other treats.She put others before herself. Joanne will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Bethany Putnam and Jason Graham; son, Ross Putnam; sister, Suzanne Foster and husband, Wiley; and six nieces and nephews.
