Kathleen Ann McCarthy Bishop

Mrs. Kathleen Ann McCarthy Bishop, 47, of Tallahassee, FL passed from this life Monday, August 12, 2013 at Big Bend Hospice House in Tallahassee. Kathleen was born February 12, 1966 in Hackensack, NJ, to John and Kathleen (Lynch) McCarthy Sr. Mrs. Bishop was preceded in death by her father John William McCarthy Sr.
Mrs. Bishop was a 1984 graduate of Bergen Regional High School in East Rutherford, NJ, and graduated in 1988 from the University of Central Florida with a B.A. in Pre-law, and then graduated in 1991 with her Juris Doctorate Degree from Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University.
She was of the Roman Catholic Faith and was a parishioner of Good Shepard Catholic Church in Tallahassee and the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Perry. She practiced at Bishop Law firm until 2006 when she joined the Florida Bar as Ethics Counsel. She was a loving wife and devoted mother who enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was a self taught baseball scorekeeper/photographer for the Tallahasse Tomahawks travel baseball team where she was very active. She served as past president of the 3rd Judicial Circuit Bar Association, was awarded Pro Bono Lawyer of the year for the 3rd Circuit in 2003, was a Board of Governor's Member of the Young Lawyers Division for several years where she was named Board Member of the Year for two consecutive years.
In her spare time she enjoyed going to the beach, traveling, and attending church and other charitable functions.
She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Conrad "Sonny" Bishop III, of Tallahassee and Perry, FL, her mother Kathleen Marie Lynch McCarthy, of Lake City, FL, 2 sons, Connor Bishop and Collin Bishop, and a daughter Colleen Bishop, all of Tallahassee, 2 brothers, John McCarthy Jr., of Ft White, FL, and Michael McCarthy, of Jefferson Township, NJ, 1 sister, Diane McCarthy Lee, of Tallahassee, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, August 16, 2013 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Perry.
Interment will follow in Pineview Memorial Cemetery in Perry. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. The Rosary will take place at 7:30pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Divine Mercy Outreach and Mission, 2750 S Byron Butler Pkwy, Perry, FL 32348.
