Ann Mustaine Jernigan died Monday, September 23, 2013, after a long illness. She was born in Ft. Pierce,Florida on April 27,1926 to Florence White Mustaine and Charles Donald Mustaine. Ann arrived in Tallahassee in September 1944 in the middle of World War II to attend the then FSCW. In 1947 the name was changed by the legislature to FSU. She graduated from FSU in June of 1948 with a degree in Elementary Education.Mrs. Jernigan was married in September to Fletcher E.Jernigan Jr. and they made their home in Tallahassee for the remainder of their 65 year marriage. Ann taught at Caroline Brevard School, then on Calhoun Street, for the school year 1948-1949. In September 1949 she taught in the Charter faculty for the newly built Kate Sullivan Elementary School.She taught there for 6 years. In 1961 Ann taught at Holy Comforter Early Child School then on Miccosukee Road. She taught there for 8 years the last 6 years acting as Principal. Ann is survived by her husband Fletcher E. Jernigan, daughter Linda Levandoski and husband Scot, son Ric L. Jernigan, granddaughter Ginna Beth Levandoski, grandson Rick L. Jernigan Jr. and wife Marcia and her great grandson Andrew Lawrence Jernigan.There will be a gathering of friends 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday, September 27, 2013 at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, Riggins Road Chapel. The family requests that in lieu of flowers friends make a donation to their favorite charities. Culley's Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangments.
