Keith Allen Berdine family man, master griller and US Federal Air Marshall left this earth way too soon on Saturday, September 21, 2013.
He loved his mom Eleanor Wood who raised Keith after his father Walter's death when Keith was 14. Keith enjoyed flirting with the ladies but adored only one. He was married to the love of his life Cathy Maurey-Berdine for twenty years. They have two boys Conner Floyd Berdine and Dylan Maurey Berdine. Keith was incredibly proud of his two boys and was an active participant, raucous cheerleader, dedicated coach and amazing team "mom" for any and all of their activities. He taught his boys to pay it forward and to do the right thing even when it wasn't the fun thing.
Keith grew up in Tallahassee, Florida and attended North Florida Christian School. He returned to Tallahassee after serving in the Army 82nd Airborne. He owned and operated a Security Business while sponsoring and coaching several recreational softball teams. Keith's passion for sports included a love for FSU and the Dallas Cowboys. He combined his enthusiasm for sports, zest for authority and need to have the last word into the role of umpire for which he was well suited. His sense of fairness and fearlessness stood him in good stead.
Keith was larger than life and will be remembered for his wonderful and sometimes demented sense of humor, quick wit, lifelong friendships, passion for his wife, love for his kids and disdain for domestic beer. His sincerity, loyalty, Dennis the Menace grin, ribald jokes over Cuban cigars and willingness to give anyone who needed it the shirt off his back are a loss to us all.
Keith was the ultimate party planner who knew when to take life seriously and when to have fun. He once said that anyone not celebrating his life was secretly celebrating his passing. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His family is honoring his wishes with a Celebration of his life on Saturday, September 28, 2013. This will take place in the Legacy Hall of the First Baptist Church of Oviedo at 45 West Broadway Street, Oviedo, Fl. beginning at 1:00 pm.
