Earl L. Albright

Earl L. Albright, 94, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 3rd in Monticello, FL.

He was born to Lester and Bessie Albright and was raised in Masontown, WV. He graduated from Masontown High School in 1942.

Earl served in the US Army Air Corp for 3 years and served during WW II, as a sergeant, mostly stationed in India. Prior to leaving the United States, Earl married Lavinia Herring. Upon returning from the war, they resided in Morgantown, WV and raised two daughters. Earl was honorably discharged as a sergeant and then spent 25 years working in security at West Virginia University. He remained a loyal Mountaineer fan for the rest of his life.

After retirement, Earl and Lavinia moved to Titusville, FL to be near family. While residing there, Earl was a faithful member of St. Andrews Church. They moved to Monticello, FL in 2012.

Earl loved working on the family farm, wood working, tinkering in the garage and later in life, spending time in the garden and riding in his golf cart with his beloved dog and best friend, Toby. He attributed his longevity to his love for buckwheat cakes. He will be remembered for his smile and the love he had for his family.

Earl is survived by his wife of 71 years, Lavinia, daughter Donna (Bill) Brumfield, 5 grandchildren, Dawna (James) Bennett, Ashley Jones, Amber (Michael) Stewart, Heather (Eddie) Rush, Bryan Shattuck and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Linda Kay Shattuck as well as his sister and brother-in-law, Jessie and Bud Roth.

A graveside service will be held Friday, December 6th at Oakfield Cemetery in Monticello, FL at 2 pm.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Big Bend Hospice for their caring and support during this time. Memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice, Jefferson County, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd, Tallahassee, FL 32308.
