John Phillip Lensch
In faith, Lt. Col. John Phillip Lensch, age 83, peacefully passed away, surrounded by loving family, on May 19th, 2014, in Tallahassee, FL, where he resided for over 16 years.
He leaves a legacy of cherished memories to his wife Kathleen "Kay" wedded 60 years, and five children: daughters Susan Bechard (Bruce), Pattie Massie, and sons Jay, David (Gina), Brian (Dian), five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. John was born in Beaver Creek, MN on May 12th, 1931 to Edward and Lucille Lensch, and oldest brother of Jim (Zana), Robert (Jane), and Cheryl Radtke.
After graduating from high school in California, he attended USC school of Pharmacology for two years and enlisted in the Air Force in 1951.
Upon completing officer candidate school, he achieved the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. During his 28 years of service, his assignments as a Hospital Administrator included Naha AFB, Okinawa, serving on the Medical Inspector General Reserve Guard in Waco, TX, Tactical Air Command Surgeon General's Office, Top Security Control Officer at Langley AFB, VA, Division Surgeon's Officer in Korea, and Executive Officer at the School of Health Care Science in Wichita Falls, TX.
John achieved the rank of Lt. Col. and retired in 1979.
John and Kay moved from Texas to Tallahassee, Fl. where they enjoyed being near family. In retirement, they traveled and became active members of Epiphany Lutheran Church. John was proud of his public service, becoming a county mediator- arbitrator in small claims court.
Everyone will remember John's wonderful quick wit, sense of humor and how he always had a great joke to share. He had a great faith and never missed an opportunity to witness.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 30th, at 2pm. at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 8300 Deer Lake Rd. in Tallahassee, FL, where family will receive friends immediately following.
