Carl Edwin Rude Jr., 71, Colonel-U.S.
Army-Retired-Vietnam War Veteran and Attorney of Law of Tallahassee, FL passed away June 1, 2014 at the home of his son, Carl Edwin Rude, III in Tampa, Florida.
The funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Roselawn Cemetery, 813 Piedmont Avenue, Tallahassee, Florida 32312 with Pastor Tom Borland, to officiate. Full military honors by the U.S. Army Funeral and Ceremonial Team will conclude the service.
The family will receive friends at the cemetery from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
Colonel Rude served our nation in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War with the 173rd Airborne Brigade and was awarded a Medal for Heroism. He continued to serve in the Army Reserves until 2003. He attended Davidson College and then graduated from Florida State University College of Law. He was a practicing attorney with the Florida Bar Association in Tallahassee for more than 40 years.
He served the Tallahassee Bar as past President, Treasurer and Director.
Ed was also passionate about scouting as an active member of the Boy Scouts of America for 63 years. He was awarded the Silver Beaver Award and served the Suwannee River Area Council of Boy Scouts as past President and Executive Board Member.
He was Scoutmaster to Faith Presbyterian Church Troop 109 and served as a member of the Diaconate.
Carl Edwin Rude, Jr. was born on October 21, 1942 in Madison, Florida to Carl E. Rude Sr. and Marian (Bailey) Rude. He is predeceased by his parents, and his son, George Bailey Rude. He is survived by his loving family: his son, Carl E. Rude III and his wife, Erica of Lutz, Florida; a brother, George Rude and his wife, Fran of Quincy, Florida; a sister, Temple Goggin and her husband Ed of St Cloud, Florida and two grandchildren: Luke and Savannah Rude.
The family requests, that in lieu of flowers, to please make donations to the Suwannee River Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, 2032 Thomasville Road, Tallahassee, Florida 32308 in the memory of Colonel Carl Edwin Rude, Jr.
