Ralph Cottrell Obituary

Ralph Cottrell III

Ralph Cottrell III passed away on December 2, 2016. He was born in Tampa, Florida on August 12, 1941. Ralph held degrees from Clemson University and Florida State University. He worked for 30 years as a chemist for the Drug Enforcement Agency. Upon retiring in 2000, Ralph demonstrated his passion, woodworking skills, and servant's heart by volunteering with Meals on Wheels and crafting many wood furniture items for church projects, schools, neighbors and friends. His greatest passion was working with Habitat for Humanity. Ralph contributed his talents and keen technical expertise in the building of 51 homes. Ralph was predeceased by his son Kevin and sister Sharon. He is survived by his wife Eleanor, daughter Hannah, brother Raymond (Stella), nephew Keith (Ginger), and niece Catherine Studemeyer (J. Bradley). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 10th at 11AM the Bradfordville First Baptist Church. Visitation will be in the gathering room of the church at 10:30. It was his wish that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the BIG BEND Habitat for Humanity, 2921 Roberts Ave, Tallahassee, Florida 32310 or online at bigbendhabitat.org.

I am so sorry. What a wonderful man. He and Doug were friends who worked together on Habitat homes, and when I started working after Doug passed away he was a great help. He will be missed.

It was a blessing to have known Ralph and to have learned about his kind, giving heart. He was a man on a mission, always going somewhere and doing something that helped others. He provided a shining example to others on how to share to to care.
