After the Army, he volunteered for the Red Cross and pursued a career in radio at WOOF and television at WTVY while living in Dothan, Alabama. He then pursued a very successful career in commercial real estate and tax-deferred real estate exchanges, from which he retired in 2015.

Arthur is preceded in death by his father, Hearn P Gay, Sr., his Mother, Christine Y Hornsby and his brother, Hearn P. Gay, Jr. He leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Janet, brother, Tom Gay (Faye), daughters, Jane Flynn, Sherri Dean (Gordon) and Brooke Collins (Will), granddaughters, Laurie Flynn (Brenda Coiner), Katie Collins and Lauren Collins, a niece, Penny Simmons (Tom) and a great niece and nephews, cousin, David Mays and his beloved dog Sport. Arthur had more faithful and loving friends than could ever be counted, each of whom held a special place in his heart.

He was a member of St. Peter's Anglican Cathedral, where a service of remembrance will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at 11:00 AM, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Anglican Cathedral Building Fund, Grace Mission Church or the Florida Wild Mammal Association.

Arthur was a wonderful boss, and a very fine man. I enjoyed working for him at Channel 6 and I learned a lot from him. Arthur had a great sense of humor and made everyone he encountered feel better. No one who ever met Arthur will forget him.

Sherri and Janie, I am so sorry to hear about your Dad. He was always so kind. I will always remember when y'all lived behind the plantation house near Middlebrooks Pond. Such great memories.

Arthur was the very definition of a Southern gentleman. I worked briefly with him in the late '60's at WCTV. Every morning he would check on me just to see how I was doing. His smile helped bring one to my face. To his family, may the peace of the Lord be with you always!
