Blanche Thompson DEARMIN

DEARMIN, Blanche Thompson 94, passed into eternal life March 6, 2014, at Haven Hospice. Blanche was born in Sutherland, FL (now Palm Harbor) to Berdie Williamson Thompson and Oscar A. Thompson. She was a granddaughter of the late W. L. Thompson, one of the earliest pioneers to settle in the Pinellas County area. She attended Curlew and Palm Harbor schools and graduated from Tarpon Springs High School in 1937. She worked for Pinellas County School Food Service for 26 years, before retiring from Tarpon Senior High in 1981. In 1992, Blanche and Mason moved to Gainesville to be closer to their daughter, Linda. She attended Ridgeview Baptist Church and Alert at Trinity Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Mason Dearmin. Survivors include one daughter, Linda Dearmin Cook, and son-in-law, Jim Cook, of Gainesville; many nieces and nephews including Mary Ruth Thompson, Gainesville. Services will be held at Ridgeview Baptist Church, Gainesville, Sunday, March 9, at 4 pm with Rev. Bill Davenport officiating. Graveside services will be held at Midway Cemetery, Palm Harbor, Monday, March 10, at 11 am with Jim Cook officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ridgeview Baptist Church, 3508 NW 19th Street, Gainesville, FL 32605; or Midway Cemetery Association, 2083 Temple Terrace, Clearwater, FL 33764. Arrangements are under the care of Forest Meadows Funeral Home of Gainesville.
