Carl was like a second Dad to me from age 10 years forward as I spent a lot of time with Jean at her home in Cranberry,PA. In the summers we raked the gravel that we messed up (by the front door) and in the winter, I tested the electrical capacity of his wire runs in the basement post for the trains. Carl treated me like a daughter, both with affection, laughter and discipline. Carl had the no-nonsense German approach to most everything and he came across as gruff to many. However, underneath that gruff exterior was a warm and gentle fellow who liked to laugh at my stupid and careless antics. Carl, you are gone, but never forgotten. Love to Jean and Glen, and Evalyn; Bethany and Jordan; Alexander, William, and Emelia.
