Gus EMMONS

EMMONS, Gus of Tampa, pas-sed away on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Jan. 18th, at 2 pm, at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 North Howard Avenue, with Archbishop Clarence E. Davis Sr., officiating. Interm-ent will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park. Gus was born in Tampa Aug. 15, 1926 to the late Gus and Elisha Emmons. He joined the U.S. Army on June 12, 1945 and served for almost 26 years, retiring as a Staff Sergeant in 1972. Gus married Yvonne Jones on Oct. 31, 1995 and they settled down in Tampa. Gus was preceded in death by both parents; two brothers, Herbert Emmons, and Johnnie Emm-ons; his three sisters, Fannie Fitzgerald, Jessie Emmons and Josie Patterson. He leaves to celebrate his life, his wife, Yvonne Emmons; two daughters, Lashone Jackson (Michael Jackson) and Cenquita Fagan-Emmons; son, Vernal Bradford (Rosalyn Bradford); four gran-dchildren, Taquoia Bradford, Shakarrio Bradford, Vernal Bra-dford Jr., and Michael Jackson Jr.; host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Remains will repose after 5 pm, Friday, Jan. 17th, at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue. The family will receive friends from 6-7 pm.
