Joan SIBBALD Obituary

SIBBALD, Joan Noelle 88, entered this life on Dec. 25, 1924 in Exeter, Devon, England. Exited this life on Oct. 26, 2013 in Alpharetta, GA. Resident of Hudson, she was a daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. Attended school at the Convent of the Presentation of Our Lady, Exeter, Devon, England. Married on March 18, 1944 to William F. Sibbald, PFC of the US Army in Exeter, Devon, England. They met during WWII at a Red Cross dance and were married for 66 years, until William's passing in March 2010. Joan immigrated to the United States in 1946, eesiding in Long Island, NY until retiring in Florida in 1980. Joan was a natural artist, winning an art contest out of all the entries in England when she was 13. She later took to interior decorating and sewing as a hobby, especially during retirement where she would decorate the neighborhood clubhouse. Joan was an avid ballroom dancer, bowler, tennis player and world traveler. She was also very active with the Suncoast Ballroom Dancers and the Elks Lodge where you could find her amongst many wonderful friends, dancing the evening away. When asked if she had any regrets of her life, she shook her head no. She said, "I've lived a good life and have had a wonderful retirement." I believe the following words can sum up her life; "Taking a lifetime to grow up!" She is survived by her brother, John Cook of Rochester, NY.; two daughters, Linda George of Brooksville and Andrea McGregor of Cumming, GA; and grandson, Michael George of Tampa. No service will be held. She will be laid to rest with her husband at the Florida National Cemetary in Bushnell.
