John STROBRIDGE Obituary

STROBRIDGE, John H. "Jack" 81, passed away on Aug. 23, 2013. Born in Dayton, OH, later moved to St. Peters-burg. He played basketball for St. Petersburg High School, be-came captain of the team, play-ed in the Allstars and was the first one in their Hall of Fame. He graduated class of 1950. Met the love of his life, "Betty" Elizabeth Wesley, got married and had 5 kids, Georgann, Melody, John, Joe and Jerry. He has been a member of the St. Pete Eagles Club for 27 years. He cared more for others than himself, often asking are you OK? He has 12 grandkids and 17 great-grandkids. His older brother, Wilbur Jr. is the last of the siblings, losing their sister, Barbara Stoltz, last year on the very same day as Dad. Pop is fearless and liked thrills so at 80, he rode Space Mou-ntain at Disney World with his son, Jerry. He loved cruises, and he could put away some food. On his last cruise, the more he ate, the stronger he became, until no walker was needed. He loved life, and everyone his life touched, loved him. Funeral services will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5750 49th St. N. St. Petersburg, on Sept. 7, 2013 at 1 pm. Written By Joe Strobridge

Jack was one of the greatest basketball players EVER in St Petersburg...When I was 13,Jack taught a basketball course at the YMCA on Saturdays...I got more good basic Basketball from that than any of my future coachs...Even when I was Capt of the St. Pete Jr College B- Ball team in 1959 I still remember many of the things he taught us...Rest in Peace Jack....Chuck Philips
