TORTI, Katherine
70, Spring Hill, passed on August 1, 2018. Katherine was born September 29, 1947 in Jackson Heights, NY. She had been a resident of this area for 28 years. Katherine came to Florida to escape snow and ice, and to enjoy the warm weather of the sunshine state. She worked as a server at Heritage Pines as well as La Bella Napoli. Katherine loved Italian food and was a big fan of 50s and 60s music. She was also known for her collections of dolls and salt and pepper shakers. She is survived by her father, John Kempisty; her sister, Barbara (Kenny) Batini; brother, John (Teresa) Kempisty; daughter, Marea (John) Mayer; four grandchildren; and other extended family and friends. Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy, her son, Chuck Garvey, and her mother, Ruth Kempisty. Friends may call on Saturday from 10-11 am, at Pinecrest Funeral Chapel. A service celebrating her life will begin at 11 am. A graveside service will follow at Florida Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to either the Hernando County Sheriff's Office or a charity of choice.
