Marcia Davis DOTY

DOTY, Marcia Davis 92 of Largo, on died Friday, June 21, 2013, at her home, in the Pinecrest Retirement Community. She was born in Albany, GA, daughter of Harry Emerson Davis and Lucia Norris Davis. She graduated from Albany High School in 1938, playing on the girl's basketball team for three years as well as serving as the Student Representative her senior year. She graduated from the University of Georgia in 1942 with a BS in Chemistry. She was a member of Alpha Delta Phi Sorority. She trained as a Laboratory Technician with the Georgia Dept. of Public Health, Atlanta, later to become our present day CDC. She worked at the Albany Branch until 1944. She later married 1st Lt. Donald C. Doty on March 27, 1944, and moved to St. Petersburg with her family in 1958. She was a devoted and longtime member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church. She served on many committees, Outreach programs, as well as, 30 years with the Meals on Wheels program. Don and Marcia were member of the Tides Country Club for 25 years. She is predeceased by her husband, Donald Doty; her grandson, Paul Chandler Todd; two brothers; and a niece. Survivors are her three daughters, Lucia Schubeck (Les), Evelyn Goldthwaite, (Rick), Carol Mehlrose (Tom); four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild with more expected this year. Memorial Service will be conducted at St. Luke's United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 29th, at 11 am. Family request donations to Suncoast Hospice or St. Luke's United Methodist Church. R.
