Vincent Thomas BUONOCORE

BUONOCORE, Vincent Thomas Born May 3, 1919, passed away Oct. 26, 2013. Mr. Buonocore was born in Beacon Falls, CT, and moved to New York City at an early age. He earned his wings as a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne in World War II, but after an injury, he joined the infantry. He served from 1941 to 1945 and fought in many of the major battles of that conflict. In 1953, he made a trip to Italy, where he met Lucia Giordano. He often said it was love at first sight, but he had to work to win her hand. The two corresponded for many months, and he returned to Italy in 1954 to marry her and bring her to the United States. They were wed for 52 years, until her passing in 2006. Mr. Buonocore worked for many years in the carpet business, primarily on his own. He was an extremely vibrant and vigorous man who prided himself on his daily workouts at the gym and his ability to do 10 military pull-ups even at the age of 92. For all of his life, he was a man on the move. He liked fast cars, running instead of walking, and never putting off until tomorrow what he could do that day. His charming nature, sweet smile, and care for others won him many friends throughout his long life. He is survived by his three loving daughters, Annamaria (Stephen) Farbizio, Angela Buonocore, and Gloria Buonocore, as well as a sister, and many nieces and nephews, both in the U.S. and in Italy. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, Oct. 30th at Brett Funeral Home, 4810 Central Ave., with a prayer service at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be at 1 pm Thursday, Oct. 31, at Blessed Trinity Church. Burial to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
