DECKER, Carl J. Dunedin, passed away Jan. 17, 2014. Born Dec. 18, 1942 in Johnson City, NY. He graduated from Whitney Point Central HS in 1961. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1964 and served in Vietnam aboard the U.S.S. Sproston (DD-577). He joined the Dunedin Florida Police Department in 1972 serving for 20 years. He worked in Patrol, Community Relations/Crime Prevention, Crime Scene Technician, and was the first School Resource Officer assigned to Dunedin High School in 1986. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dunedin and a member of several military associations, and life member of the NRA. Carl was an avid marksman, hunter, and collector of military artifacts. He was the research historian for the police and military museum in Dunedin. Survivors include an aunt and several nieces and cousins. Interment was in the Dunedin Cemetery.
