DANIELS, Douglas Verne, 74, a Zephyrhills, Florida resident, was called home to Heaven by his Lord and Savior at 6 a.m. on January 1, 2014, peacefully in his sleep at the East Pasco Hospice Center on Clinton Avenue in Dade City, Florida. At his request, no funeral service will be held; his cremation will be handled by the Neptune Society. Mr. Daniels was born on December 8, 1939, in Mishawaka, Indiana, to Verne Nelson Daniels and Doris Hope Cochren Daniels. Doug worked for Standard Oil in Indiana and moved to Florida in April 1968 and owned the restaurant, Daniels' Zephyr Food Haven, in Zephyrhills until 1981. Mr. Daniels served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged. He was a member or officer of several service organizations. He was a member of the Grand Lodge Free & Accepted Masons of Michigan. He was a life member of the Scottish Rite Lodge Council Chapter Consistory. He was also a member of The American Legion. He was a life member since 2009 of the Valley of Grand Rapids, AASR, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, USA. He was a life member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, N.M.J., USA, 32nd degree of Grand Rapids. Doug contributed and was a member of the Wounded Warrior Project since 2006. Doug was a Rotarian in the Zephyrhills Rotary Club with perfect attendance for 27 years and served as sergeant-at-arms. He was President of the Zephyrhills Rotary Club from 1979-1980. Doug was a Shriner of the Egypt Temple Shrine from the mid-60s until his passing; He was a participant of the Shrine Circus earning $1000 Club designation in 1993 and 1994. He was President of the Zephyr Shrine Club from 1980-1981. He is survived by his life partner, Idel L. Noble of 27 years. He is also survived by a daughter, Deborah Marie Daniels Boyko, her husband, Dan Boyko, and two grandchildren, Jacob and Abigail. He is also survived by his son, Verne Douglas Daniels, his wife, Bobbie Jo Todd Daniels, and a granddaughter, Whitney Nicole Daniels Stokes, her husband, Joshua Lee Stokes, and one great grandson, Evan Lee Stokes. His grandson, Todd Douglas Daniels, predeceased Doug on April 19, 2008 at the young age of 10. Condolences may be sent to Ms. Idel L. Noble, 8911 Sparkleberry Lane, Zephyrhills, FL 33541.
