MACKENZIE, Edward S., III, age 77 of Brooksville, died Saturday, July 13, 2013. A lifelong resident of Brooks-ville, he was self-employed and retired from the citrus industry. He was president of the 1954 graduating class of Hernando High School and received the Florida Southern College Citrus Alumni of the Year award. He served on the board of directors for the Florida Citrus Mutual Board, was past president of the Brooksville Citrus Growers Association, longtime member and very active with the Military Vehicle Preservation Association and recently became a member of the English Motor Vehicle Club. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force and lifelong member of St. John's Episcopal Church of Brooksville. Son of the late Judge E. S. & Romie Lee MacKenzie, he is survived by his wife: Catherine E. Cowie-MacKenzie; sons: Edward S. MacKenzie, IV of Brooksville and Richard MacKenzie of Orlando; daughters: Pamela L. Wilkison of Yankeetown and Virginia Lee Daniels & Carla M. Cornell both of Brooksville; sister: Virginia Vidal of Jacksonville, FL; 14 grandchildren: Spencer, Tory, William, Brittany, Robert, Leon, Amy, Benjamin, Kaylee, Luke, Virginia, Bailey, Cason & Catherine and 10 great grandchildren. Visitation for friends will be 6-8pm, Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Brooksville Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am, Thursday, July 18, 2013 at St. John's Episcopal Church, Brooksville. Interment will follow at Brooksville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HPH Hospice.
