SULLIVAN, John L. Sr. 84, of Largo, died on Sunday Nov. 24, 2013, at home. Born March 5, 1929 in Chicago, IL, He was the son of Charles and Corrine Hedstrom Sullivan. John served 32 years as a Police Officer in Calumet City, IL, and retiring as Police Chief in 1988. He was a member of St. Cecelia's Catholic Church, Calumet City American Legion, Fraternal Order of Police, Illinois Police Association and the Association of Police Chiefs. John served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by daughter, Mary D Sullivan. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Rita Zandstra Sullivan, of Largo whom he married May 20, 1950; his sons, Michael (Debbie) Sullivan of Whiting, IN, John L. (Lisa) Sullivan of Largo, Thomas (Diana) Sullivan of Calumet City, IL, Timothy (Laura) Sullivan of Brandon; daughters, Kathleen (Patrick) McPolin of Orland Park, IL, Patricia (Robert) Mitchell of Hammond, IN, Maureen Mora of Marshall, IL, and Jean (Michael) Ciesynski of Seattle, WA; his brothers, Richard (Lois) Sullivan of Warsaw, IN, and Patrick (Judy) Sullivan of Lansing, IL; sister, Mary Beemsterboer of Lynw-ood, IL; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. A funeral service will be 10:30 am, Monday, Dec. 9th, at St. Cecelia's Catholic Church, Clearwater. Any Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
