ROBERTS, Robert Norwood II "Rob" was called home Saturday, July 5, 2014, at the age of 64. Rob was a life-long resident of Dade City, FL. Born to Yvonne and Bob Roberts on Sept. 24, 1949. He was the oldest of four siblings, Ric Roberts, Nancy Fort, and David Roberts. Rob was a graduate of Pasco High School, The University of Florida, and Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. He lived in Dade City for most of his life and cared for all creatures great and small as a veterinarian. Rob enjoyed the luckiest day of his life when he married Louise Edwards on June 17, 1970. "Doc" had a friend in Jesus, Bill W. and never met a stranger. Dr. Roberts was a life-long lover of animals, baseball, and his immediate and extended family. He was a Believer, a coach, a caregiver, a listener, a motivator, and a friend to anyone fortunate enough to know him. His voice, laugh and appropriate inappropriateness were trademarks that he practiced religiously and shared generously. Rob was proud of his sobriety later in life and dependent on Jesus for everyday he was given thereafter. Rob leaves behind the legacy of a man full of life who loved and was loved, who listened and learned, and who laughed with us all. He made each of our lives better by sharing his with us. He was one in a million and will leave a hole in so many hearts that will never be filled. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Louise; his precious children, daughter Sara Louise (BJ Newcomer); sons, Rob and Will (Taryn); and grandchildren, Audrey and William. His nephew, JR Fort, was incredibly special to him. He loved his Labrador Retriever and constant companion, Ruby. A celebration of his life will be held Friday, July 11th at Hyde Park United Methodist Church at 500 W. Platt Street, Tampa at 10am, Lunch and fellowship will follow in Hamish Hall. The Roberts family will host family and friends as well at their home on St. Joe Road, Dade City from 6-8 on Thursday, July 10th.
