LEWIS, Robert Franklin of Palm, Harbor, died on March 5, 2013 of complications from myelodysplastic syndrome. He would have been 90 on March 21st. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Phyllis P. Lewis of Palm Harbor; and sons, Randall Franklin Lewis of Havertown, PA, Gary Scott Lewis of Drexel Hill, PA (Nancy Redd Lewis) and Gregg Charles Lewis of Stevens, PA (Lynne Lewis). He is also survived by grandsons, Scott William Lewis and Todd Robert Lewis, both of Drexel Hill, PA; and Gregory Lewis of Stevens, PA. He was born in Upland, PA in 1923 to Gordon Franklin Lewis and Margaret Doyle Lewis and grew up in Collingdale and Morton, PA. He graduated from Collingdale High School, Northwestern University and the University of Pennsylvania. During World War II, he was a bombardier trainer in the Army Air Corps. After the war, he began a career in education as a science teacher in Blue Island, IL. He returned to the Philadelphia area in 1954 and spent the rest of his career as an educator in the Upper Darby, PA School District, where he was a science teacher, football coach, principal and administrator. He lived in Drexel Hill, PA for many years before moving to St. Petersburg in 1982, and then to Palm Harbor in 2000. Services will be held on March 22, 2013 at 1:30 pm at Bay Pines National Cemetery in Bay Pines.
