GRAHAM, William Shelby, Jr., age 96, died February 19, 2014, in Tampa FL. Born July 14, 1917, he was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Marjorie Lambert Graham, his parents, Judge and Mrs. William Shelby Graham, his sisters, Margaret Graham Peeler and Katherine Graham Avant, and his brother, John Thomas Graham. He is survived by his daughter, Sally Graham Waterstraat and her husband, Craig; his son, William Lambert Graham and his wife, Judith. Also four grandchildren: Mark Graham Waterstraat and his wife, Lori, Elizabeth Waterstraat Marino and her husband, Keith; Holly Innes Graham; Shelby Graham Larsson and her husband, Michael; and by seven great grandchildren: Graham, Sara Charles, and Whit Waterstraat; Ryan, William Finnegan, and Rory Marino; and William Thomas Larsson. The family wishes to extend special love and appreciation to his loyal friend and caregiver, Peggy Prince, who enabled him to maintain his vibrant life for many years. A proud native of Tampa, William graduated from Hillsborough High School (1935) and attended the Business University of Tampa. He served 21 years in the United States Navy (1941--1962), retiring with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer, W-3, Supply Corps. He is a veteran of WW II and the Korean War. After his Navy career, he returned to Tampa and served three Hillsborough County Tax Collectors as Deputy Tax Collector: the Hon. Anthony Schlemen, K. C. Bullard, and Melvin B. Smith. A life-long Presbyterian, he served the First Presbyterian Church of Tampa as a Ruling Elder and as Church Treasurer. He was an ardent lover of all sports and was a wicked bridge player.
