DAVENPORT, Willie "Ray" 92, of Tampa, passed away May 9, 2014 and is survived by his wife and loving family. He was born in Troy, Alabama and was a proud member of the Y'ufala "Star" Clan of Lower Muscogee Creek Indians of Alabama. Mr. Davenport was a veteran of WW II and took part in the D-Day invasion. He stormed Utah Beach as a member of the 4th Infantry Division, 4th Engineers Combat Battalion and received a Purple Heart along with many other medals and accolades. He was extremely proud of his service to his Country. He was an avid snook fisherman and took pride in teaching his family to fish. Graveside services with Military Honors will be held 10 am Wed. May 14, 2014 at Myrtle Hill Cemetery. Swilley Funeral Home 932-6157
