BURKET, Barbara Deanna

"Deedee" 78, of Palm Harbor, FL, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 5, 2018 at the Suncoast Hospice Care Center, North Pinellas County, Florida due to complications from Parkinson's disease. She was born in Roaring Spring, PA February 24, 1940 the only child of Dean and Elda (Holsinger) Burket. Deedee graduated from Roaring Spring High School in 1958 and from Penn State University in 1962. She spent her career as a buyer for retail stores including Saks and Talbots. Deedee was an avid sports fan all her life cheering for the Tampa Bay Rays and Buccaneers. Her loudest cheers, however, were saved for the Penn State Nittany Lions. Parkinson's disease took her body, but never claimed her gentle sweet nature nor her ready laugh. She was dearly loved by her parents, her friends, and members of the East Lake Methodist Church, Palm Harbor, FL. Friends will be received Noon until 1 pm. Funeral service at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Altoona, Pennsylvania with Pastor Brian Sandell officiant, burial will follow in Alto Reste Park Cemetery, Altoona, PA. A celebration of Life will be held at the East Lake Methodist Church at a future date. Her friends wish to thank Stratford Court, her last residence, Meese Countryside Hospital and Suncoast Hospice for their loving care.
