BAKER, Elizabeth Ann Connar died peacefully at Kindred Hospital Central, in Tampa, on Wednesday, May 22, 2013. Born in Durham, NC, on July 6, 1951, she was raised in Tampa where her father practiced medicine. After graduating from Berkeley Prepatory School, she received her bachelor's degree in English from Duke University, where she also met her future husband, Peter Baker. They were married on June 29, 1974, and began their lifelong adventures together starting in California and ending in Tampa. She earned Masters degrees at the University of Florida and began her PhD studies in film theory at Emory University. In 1982, she returned to Tampa and raised 2 daughters while pursuing her career passion for film. She was active in Tampa social life, being a debutante and maid in the court with Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla, a member of the Junior League, and a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church. She was a gifted writer and poet and loved to travel with Jackson Hole and the Tuscany region in Italy being her favorite destinations. She is survived by her husband, Peter Baker; her daughters, Elizabeth Grace Baker and fiancé, Billy Courtney, Virginia Aline (Baker) Chapin; and son-in-law, Boyd E. Chapin III; mother, Elizabeth Dickens Connar; brother, Richard G. Connar Jr.; sister-in-law, Enid Hickingbotham and husband, Dyson, sister-in-law, Margaret Whitehead and husband, Alan; cousins, Robert Henderson and wife, Gail, Jay Henderson and wife, Enid, Barbara Simmons and husband, Fred; niece, Anna Griggs and husband, Tom; many other nieces, nephews and in-laws in Tampa and throughout the Southeast, and her beloved Shih Tzu, Sushi. Her father, Richard G. Connar; and sister, Cathleen Connar Watson, predeceased her. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory to Kindred Hospital Central Tampa and to the St. Andrews Episcopal Foundation.
