Judith Rempel CURTO

CURTO, Judith Rempel After an 18 year battle with breast cancer, Judith Rempel Curto passed away on April 30, 2013. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Mark Curto; brother, Don Rempel & partner, Catherine; sister, Diane & husband, Don Brilz; niece, Alyssa Rempel; nephew, Ryan Brilz; along with Mark's brothers, Steve, Gary and Chris & their spouses. Judy was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on Nov. 3, 1950. She spent her early years in the Elmwood area followed by 4 years in San Jose, CA. On return to Winnipeg, Judy attended high school at MBCI where she excelled in academics, sports and music. Upon graduation, Judy attended the University of Manitoba where she graduated with a BA Honors in English. It was during this time her talent in harmony singing led her into singing backup vocals and jingles for Century 21 Studios. It was here that she met her life long partner, Mark. They shared their love of music and adventure and when Mark returned to his native home in Indianapolis, Judy did not last long and followed him to Indiana. They married on Dec. 31, 1976. Skydiving was a big part of their lives and they traveled to Zephyrhills, beginning a 36 year life in Florida. After realizing that picking oranges and living in a camper truck was not for her, Judy began a lengthy and successful career at Xerox Corp. Judy worked her way up from dispatcher to become a senior Customer Care Manager earning many awards along the way. Her work ethic was an example to many. During this time, Judy and Mark developed a shared love of scuba diving and traveled to many exotic locations. Judy always did everything to the very best of her ability and she became an excellent underwater photographer. In addition, Judy always had a passion for glass and created many beautiful stain glass pieces for herself and family. Judy was an inspiration to many in her battle with cancer, never complaining and treating her chemotherapy sessions like a trip to the grocery store. Her oncologist felt that Judy always managed her own care with his input and marveled at her strength of character during her long battle with cancer. Judy's wishes were for a modest celebration of her life, followed by a cremation and scattering of her ashes with½going for a final dive at her favorite site off West Palm Beach and the other½joining her mother, brother and ancestors at the La Salle cemetery in Manitoba. Judy had a loving and caring nature combined with an integrity and dedication to excellence in everything she pursued. She will be dearly missed.
