Dr.  Marc Stephen FREEDMAN Obituary
69, of New Port Richey, died July 10, 2018 at the hospice center in New Port Richey.

He was born in New Haven, Connecticut, December 21, 1948. He is the son of the late Marvin and Evelyn Freedman.

Dr. Freedman received his Bachelor of Arts in the College of Liberal Arts and Science at the University of Connecticut. He received his medical degree from New York medical College in 1974, and he spent the majority of his career in private practice. Dr. Freedman made Florida his home in 1981.

Among his many accomplishments, Dr. Freedman was elected to the Fellowship of the American College of Physicians in 1994. He was respected by his colleagues and treasured by his patients. As an active member of Temple Ahavat Shalom, Dr. Freedman served on the Board of Trustees since 1994 and was a pillar of the community.

In his spare time, he was a student of Karate. He achieved a second degree black belt in martial arts, and he served as a sensei of his own dojo. He was an advanced scuba diver, played the piano, an avid reader, enjoyed going to the movies, loved music and singing.

Dr. Marc Freedman is survived by his wife, Myra Lassor Freedman; sister, Susan Freedman; children, Julie and Ari Saperstein, Elijah Freedman, Scott and Kimberly Overfelt, Marc Overfelt and Jill Barbic, Heather Overfelt; and a nephew, David Gordon. His grandchildren are Christopher, Hannah, Chloe, Zander, and Zoe, all of whom adored him as he did them.

Funeral services were held at Temple Ahavat Shalom 1575 Curlew Road, Palm Harbor, Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 11 am. Rabbi Gary Klein officiated the services followed by a burial at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park.
