WILLIAMS, Ray Edward

September 4, 1929-July 2, 2018. Ray was predeceased by his parents, Robert H. and Lillie S. Williams; his sisters, Vivian B. Lockhart and Florence E. Robinson; brother, Robert S. "Sarge" Williams. He was born in St. Petersburg where he attended Jordan Elementary and Gibbs High School, from which he graduated with honors in 1948. He attended Virginia State College, Stowe Teachers College, and St. Louis University. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from St. Louis University in 1953. He later took graduate courses in chemistry at the University of California-Berkeley. He received a diploma in Commercial Cooking from Brewster Adult Technical School, Tampa, FL. Ray worked several years as a waiter in California, Seattle, WA, New Orleans, LA, Chicago, IL and New York. In his later years, he was employed as a cook. Survived by a son, Raymond Robinson, Cincinnati, OH; nephews, Reginald Robinson, Moses Robinson, Tallahassee, FL, Rev. Theodore L. Lockhart (Minnie), St. Petersburg, FL, and several grandnephews and nieces. He was a member St. Peter Claver Roman Catholic Church, Tampa, FL. Services will be held at Creal Funeral Home Chapel, July 17, 2018 at 2 pm.
