MEACOMES, Robert R. "Captain Bob", 83, of St. Petersburg, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2013, at The Masonic Home of Florida in St. Petersburg, where he lived for the past 2½ years. He was born and raised in Bailey, NC. After graduation from high school, he served on active duty for four years in the U.S. Army, as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne, during the Korean War. Bob was a Mason for 62 years and served as a Past Monarch of the Grotto. He moved with his wife, Mary Ann, to St. Petersburg from Rocky Mount, NC in 1960. He and his family were active members of the First Baptist Church in downtown St. Petersburg. Upon retirement from Sears in 1985, he launched the career of his dreams as a boat Captain and owner of the "Reel Bare" fishing boat. He operated a charter fishing, scuba diving and salvaging business out of St. Petersburg for 15 years. An avid fisherman, he fulfilled his life's goal of being his own boss, and enjoying his days on the water. He is survived by his two daughters, Pamela Campbell and her husband George, and Kimberly Black and her husband Bob. He is also survived by his brother, Horace M. Meacomes and family of Bailey, NC. A celebration of his life will be held at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home, 2201 Dr. MLK St. N., on July 19, 2013 at 1 pm.

Dear Kim,
I am so sorry for your loss. I have many fond memories of your dad. He always had a smile on his face and he had a way of spreading heppiness to others. He will be missed.
Sincerely,
Kristen

My dearest Pam,
My heart goes out to you. It's been a long, stressful battle but at least your dad is not longer suffering. And, after all these years, he is reunited with your mom.
Thoughts and prayers.
Much love, Susan
