SKWIRSK, Gerald F., 79, of Zephyrhills passed away March 4, 2014 at his home. He was born 7/4/1934 in Wayne, MI. and was the fourteenth of eighteen children. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. After 30 years, he retired from General Motors, Buick Motors Division in Flint, MI. His memberships included the Elks Lodge and St. Joseph's Church of Zephyrhills, FL where he ushered for many years. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Survivors include his beloved wife of 52 years, Diantha of Zephyrhills; sons, Brian Skwirsk of Flint, MI; Barry, Skwirsk (Sheri) of Wesley Chapel, FL; Bradley Skwirsk of Middleburg, FL; grandsons, Adam (Caitlyn) Skwirsk of Land O Lakes, FL; Brandon Skwirsk of Flint, MI; granddaughters, Amber Skwirsk of Wesley Chapel, FL; Brianna Skwirsk Harris, (Tyler) of Wahiawa, HI; brothers, Stanley Skwirsk of Crossville, TN; Carl Skwirsk of Alpena, MI; James Skwirsk of Lapeer, MI; sisters, Lillian Chandler of Leesburg, FL; Marion Scrimger of Wayne, MI; Charlotte Wilhelm of Ypsilanti, MI; Margaret Stephens of Holly, MI; Betty Weingartz of Lapeer, MI. He is preceded in death by sisters, Katherine Byrd of Ann Arbor, MI; Dorothy Newman of Warren, MI; brothers, John Skwirsk of Wayne, MI; Harold Skwirsk of Lapeer, MI; Albert Skwirsk of North Branch, MI; William Skwirsk of Flint, MI; Joseph Skwirsk of Imlay City, MI; Frank Skwirsk of Howell, MI; and a baby brother who died at birth. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Friday, March 7th at Hodges Family Funeral Home, Dade City. A funeral mass will be conducted 11 AM Saturday at St Joseph's Catholic Church. He will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell on Monday at 10:30 AM.
