POLLETTA, Albert John 93, formerly of St. Petersburg and Wellington, FL, passed away on May 1, 2014 at Woodlands Care Center in Gainesville. Albert was born in Webster, MA, Aug. 21, 1920 to Amelia & Candido Polletta. Al moved to St. Petersburg in 1939 with his wife. He worked for Grant Ford Motor Company for many years and the U.S. Postal Service. After retiring from the Post Office, Al worked for the St. Petersburg Times. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Shirley Dupre Polletta; his son, Thomas A. Polletta; and his second wife, Katherine Young Polletta; his parents; and 3 siblings. He is survived by one sister, Margaret Guy of Webster, MA; two daughters, Sheila Jean Brown (Ed) Gainesville, Sharon A. Amick (Steve) Knoxville, TN; 6 grandchildren, Sheryl Montrowl (Christopher) Gainesville, Dr. Stacie Whinnery (Keith) Milton, Stefanie M. Peters (Joseph) Wellington, Ed Brown Jr. Corpus Christi, TX, Scott Amick and Spencer Amick of Knoxville, TN; 8 great-grand-children, Jennifer Powell (Jason), Matthew Barnes, Melissa Mon-trowl, Nathan Barnes, Mikayla Brown, Spencer Brown, Nathan Amick and Conner Amick; 1 great-great-grandchild, Job Powell; and many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 10900 SW 24th Ave., Gainesville, FL 32607, at 11:30 am, Saturday, May 10, with internment to follow at 3:30 pm, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5750 49th Street North St. Petersburg, with military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Arrangements are in the care of Milam Funeral & Cremation Services, 311 S.
