HARRINGTON, Donald J. age 86, of Clearwater and LeRa-ysville, PA, pas-sed away on July 26, 2014. He was born in Sanborn, IA, Nov. 13, 1927. He graduated from Iowa State University with honors earning a Chemical Engineering degree. He was employed by Standard Oil, and continued with Esso/Exxon until his retirement in 1986. Donald was a U.S. Army veteran and served during WWII as a Merchant Marine. Upon retirement Don volunteered his time preparing income tax returns and performed volunteer work for St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Irish Hill, PA, and was an avid genealogist, and shared his research with others. Survivors include his beloved wife of 59 years, Verne Harrington (Mich-aels); sons, Andrew (Julie), Daniel (Beth), Sean (Mary Ann); daughters, Karen Hicks, Jeri Dubec (David), Liz Gunter (Steve); brother, James Harrington (Karen); sisters, Mary Uhe, Marjorie Yakel, Lorrene Moermond; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandc-hild. A Memorial service will be held at a later time in Friendsville, PA. In lieu of flo-wers, the family request that you forgive a friend or do a good deed for a stranger in remembrance of this exceptional man.
