MAIDEN, Sandra 72, of Clearwater, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents, LaVern Zirtzman and Florence Burke Zirtz-man. A celebration of Sandra's remarkable life will be held Saturday, Aug. 2, at 10 am, at The Feather Sound Community Church, 13880 Feather Sound Drive, Clearwater. Born on Sept. 2, 1941, in Birmingham, AL, Sandra had a tremendous impact on the lives of those she met. Her compassion and kindness towards family, friends and strangers alike was truly remarkable. She was the first one to offer help and encouragement to those in need and was well known for her southern hospitality, class and style. Sandra graduated from the University of Alabama, was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority and loved to attend Alabama football games. Sandra began her career and started a family after moving to Williamsburg, VA. She taught kindergarten and 3rd grade at the Jamestown Academy and was also active in the Williamsburg Garden Club. In 1983, Sandra moved to Clearwater beginning a new career in retail sales with Ivey's Dept. store. Her buoyant personality, flair and hard work ethic quickly insured a promotion into management. She also worked for JP Hotels as a human resource manager for two Holiday Inn resort hotels; on Madeira and Clearwater beaches. Sandra retired from HCA in 2013 after working nearly two decades as a healthcare recruiter. She was immensely passionate about human resources, always going the extra mile for her employees. Sandra was also very active in the Feather Sound community. When not working, she could always be found on the tennis courts smiling and laughing with her many friends. She was also a member of the Feather Sound Community Church, a fan of the Tampa Bay Rays, and of course, Alabama Crimson Tide football. Sandra is remembered by her brother, Wayne Zirtzman of St. Petersburg; and her son, G. Scott Maiden, of Clearwater. She leaves behind two grandchildren, the greatest joys of her life, Tristan Maiden and Zoe Maiden; as well as many cherished and loyal friends who will fondly remember her warmth, kindness, positive energy and glowing smile forever. In lieu of flowers, family ask that donations be made to the Feather Sound Christian Preschool, 13880 Feather Sound Drive, Clearwater, FL 33762, where she cherished her involvement in her grandson's class.
