Teresa Bartiromo "Terri" PENTEK


PENTEK, Teresa Bartiromo "Terri" 61 of Tierra Verde, passed away on Oct. 7, 2013. She is survived by her husband, Gregory Pentek; her father Gerald (Pam) Bartiromo of St. Augustine; her sister, Kristina (Ernest) Bartiromo-Ledesma of Savannah; stepsister, Kaarin Leach; stepbrother, Brian Record; and her faithful bird, Kiwi. Terri was born in Macon, GA on Nov. 11, 1951 to Gerald and Maj-Britt Bartiromo. She spent many holidays and summers in Denmark with her cousins, grandparents, aunts and uncles. Moving to Massachusetts, she graduated from University of Massachusetts with honors in 1973 with a Pre-Med Veterinary Medicine. At UMass, Terri was a busy member of the equestrian team demonstrating her talents and mastery in horse handling skills. Terri attended and graduated from Cornell University with honors in 1976 with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine and practiced large animal medicine in Strykersville, NY. The farmers grew to love "Doc" Terri and only wanted her to treat their animals. Terri moved to St. Petersburg and fell in love with sailing and settled in her new life making friends the only way she knew howthrough love, compassion, sincerity, laughter, and her wonderful smile. Terri touched the lives of so many with her zest for life and warm smile. Her true passions in life were sailing, running, and helping others. Terri was sought after by customers and contractors alike at Tampa Tile. Tampa Tile was Terri's extended loving family and she devoted herself creating perfection for every client. Terri was a one woman force who spearheaded legislative changes affecting submerged land lease fees throughout the state of Florida for multi-family homes. Through The Florida Homeowners for Fair Treatment organization, her dedicated five-year efforts to correct the inequalities in the lease fee structures was successful this past July saving Florida condo owners millions of dollars. Terri was also a long time Board President and a respected member of the community. Terri had a deep love for the ocean and enjoyed many years cruising with her Tierra Verde friends. She will be truly missed by all who knew her. A memorial service will be held at the Island Chapel, 1271 Pinellas Bayway, Tierra Verde, on Saturday, Oct. 12 that 1 pm.
