SMITH, Rollin R. "Saxy", 90 of Lake Placid, Fla. died Jan. 12, 2013. He was born in Chicago, Ill., a veteran of W.W. II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. A graduate of Millikin University, Decatur, Ill.. Former editor of the Lovington Reporter, moving to Springfield, Ill. to serve as an aide to the Governor of Ill.. He married Susan in Avon Park, Fla. in 1994 and they settled in Lake Placid in 2002. He was a member of Highlands County Concert Band, Highlandaires and also Star Dusters. He is survived by his wife, Susan, Lake Placid; daughters, Linda Moody, Dallas, TX and Cindy Meier, Elgin, Ill.; son, Ken Mitchell Smith, Littleton, Mass.; sisters, Louise Wickline, Decatur, Ill. and Eileen Ernst, Mt. Zion, Ill.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be placed at Sarasota National Cemetery. www.morrisfuneralchapel.com
